Sustainability reports · Impact reports · ESG reports · Corporate responsibility reports
Sustainability reports for people who’d rather be doing their actual job.
Whatever you're calling your report this year, it still has to be written well. Hand the drafting, rewriting, and stakeholder wrangling to a senior writer and GRI Certified Sustainability Professional.
Corporate responsibility report. Sustainability report. Impact report. ESG report. The name on the cover has changed a few times in the last few years — and, let’s be honest, it's probably going to change again.
Whatever yours is called this year, the underlying job is the same: Turn a year of complicated work into a document that's clear enough for employees, strategic enough for leadership, structured enough to satisfy frameworks, and credible enough to stand up to scrutiny.
The report-season pattern you know too well…
Panic mode
Last‑minute rewrites that pull your whole team into panic mode
Data dump
Reports that read like a data dump instead of a clear story
Never quite done
That sinking feeling that the report is “done” but still not quite right
Disjointed voice
Copy that sounds like 12 departments took turns with the keyboard
Comment overload
Endless comments you have to interpret, reconcile, and rewrite
The report you actually want to publish…
With expert writing support, you get a report that is:
Easier to review
Even for the person who “hasn’t had time to read all of it.”
Easier to champion
Because the story finally hangs together.
Easier to understand
No guesswork required.
Easier to publish
Because the language is clear, credible, and considered.
Easier to defend
Especially when someone asks, “But what does this actually mean?”

How we can work together
-

The Blueprint
Before a word gets written, we settle the spine: structure, key messages, content priorities, story logic. You leave with a plan the whole team can build to or your internal comms team can execute.
Best for: teams kicking off a new reporting cycle.
-

The Report
The signature offer. Drafting, rewriting, and editorial direction on the full report. Raw inputs, prior-year copy, interview notes, data, and internal feedback go in. A clear, credible report comes out.
Best for: teams with data in hand and a deadline approaching.
-

The Partnership
A year-round embedded editor for your sustainability team. The Blueprint and The Report, built in, plus a writer who already knows your story before the cycle even starts.
Best for: teams who can't afford to start from scratch every cycle.
A better reporting season starts here.
What happens after you reach out:
1. Fit call (30 minutes)
We talk through your report timeline, frameworks in scope, and where you need the most help.
2. Scope and proposal
I send a clear plan, timeline, and fixed fee within three business days.
3. Kickoff
We align on voice, structure, and review process. Then our work begins.
“Abigail is one of those rare people who make every project better just by being on the team. As a writer, she's exceptional, not just technically, but strategically. She keeps a sharp eye on what's happening in the sustainability space while staying deeply attuned to each client's specific context, and that combination shows up in the work. Reports feel elevated, not generic.”

Fixed fee, quoted after a fit call. I don’t bill hourly because hourly billing punishes the writer who works fast and rewards the one who pads timelines. You get a clear number and a clear scope up front, so you can plan and approve the budget without surprises. (The Partnership is the exception as it’s typically a monthly retainer.)
-
Yes, routinely. Most sustainability reporting work involves pre-publication material, board-level conversations, and unreleased data. I’m used to working under NDA from the first call onward, and I can sign yours or send mine.
-
You still only deal with me. Over time, I've built a small network of trusted, experienced specialists, including strategists, proofreaders, and designers, and when a project needs one, I bring them in and manage the work. You get the benefit of a bigger team without losing the single point of contact.
-
Yes. I work natively in Workiva, Word, Google Docs, and most combinations of the above. If your team is on a shared drive, a CMS, or a hybrid setup, I’ll work in whatever environment makes review easiest for your stakeholders.
-
It happens. Materiality results come in late, leadership changes, the board moves a meeting. I build a small amount of slack into every timeline, and for bigger shifts we’ll talk through what’s realistic and re-scope if we need to. I’d rather flag a problem early than miss a deadline quietly.
-
Both. I subcontract for a small number of sustainability and brand agencies who bring me in as the senior writer on their team’s engagements. If you’re an agency considering me for a client project, the conversation is the same. Let’s hop on a fit call.
-
The fit call is the answer. It’s 30 minutes, free, and we’ll both know by the end. If I’m not the right fit, I’ll let you know and point you toward someone who might be.
